Fly Like An Eagle!

How often do you get a chance to get a photo with the National Symbol of our country?  Pack 12 did on February 17, 2012 at our annual Blue and Gold Banquet.

The scouts were treated to some amazing flying entertainment, thanks to the efforts of HawkQuest.  We learned all about hawks, owls, falcons, and yes, the Bald Eagle.

We also ate wonderful barbecue from Nick and Jim's, and watched Den 2 cross over into Boy Scouts.  Thanks to Den 5 for putting on amazing event!

What A Harvest!

Plenty To Be Thankful For

Here is a photo of the harvested vegetables from our Fall Giving Harvest, held on Saturday October 15, 2011 at the Miller Farms.

We had 7 scouts and their families show up to pick vegetables for their families, and families in need in the community.  Together, we were able to pick about 340 pounds of fresh produce which was delivered to the Denver Rescue Mission and the Loving Hands Food Pantry.

Just a reminder that this Saturday, October 15th, Pack 12 will be traveling up north to Miller Farms for their annual Fall Harvest. We will be meeting AT Miller Farms at 11 AM.

Each $10 admission includes the harvesting of 5-10lb bags of produce, of which you will be able to keep 2 of the 5 bags to take home and we will donate the remaining 3 bags to local preselected shelters/ soup kitchens to use to help feed those in need. They have the following produce available potatoes, carrots, onions, beets, Indian corn, squash, peppers, and the list goes on!

Your admission also includes the Petting Zoo, Corn Maze, and children's play area. Two of the organizations established so far are the Denver Rescue Mission and the Loving Hands organization.

So bring your scouts and your family out and join us for fun and education about farms. You will also be able to pick up your Halloween pumpkins at the same time!

The boys had the chance to sharpen their hopping and throwing skills with outdoor games, and they received a bunch of awards.  The boys were very busy over the summer, and most received at least 5 awards.

Be sure to join us at our September Pack Meeting on Friday, September 16th, 2011 at Trails West Elementary.

Back-To-School Clean-up

Makin' It Shine
A dozen scouts showed up on Saturday, August 20, 2011 to get the entrance to their school in tip-top shape.  It was a perfect day to get the scouts ready for going back-to-school, and making sure the front of the school was looking good.

The scouts rummaged through the bushes in front of the school, and around the principal's office looking for the trash and other surprises that seem to not get noticed until you actually look for them.
Look At All This Trash!

In total, we filled up two garbage bags of trash, and one 5-gallon bucket.  The most surprising finds: A piece of wood from a fence, a 1/2 full tube of sunscreen, MANY plastic water bottles and even a AAA Battery.

Many thanks to the scouts, AND PARENTS that showed up and help get the school ready for students on Monday.  The scouts were so proud of their efforts that they even signed their names to a flyer we taped to the front door letting everyone know that the entrance was "Sanitized For Your Protection" by the Pack 12 Cub Scouts!
